Ben Kamiri is the founder of Choice Microfinance Bank. He has worked in the USA for over a decade. He comes back to Kenya to steer the vision of the first diaspora conceived bank. He has extensive experience in international business with interests in money transfer, microfinance banking, real estate, tax preparation, harnessing Diaspora banking with local institutions and the health industry.
Simon Gachunia is the Chairman of Choice Microfinance Bank and the Economic Advisor, Nyeri County. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from USIU and Bachelor of Education Arts in Mathematics & business studies. He has a post graduate certificate in International development from Norway. His background is in Mathematics and Business Studies. He brings on board a vast experience from his previous positions both in International NGOs, real estate and the private sector.
Board Audit Committee
Stanley Kasyoka joins Choice Microfinance Bank as a director from the diaspora having worked as a senior business analyst at JP Morgan Chase & Co and Bear Sterns Investment Bank USA. He also worked with Citi Group USA as a credit analyst and Chase bank Kenya as Head of Business Opportunities. Stanley brings great wealth of experience in investment banking, micro-mortgages and credit risk analysis. He holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Business and Strategic Management and a Masters in Economics and Finance. He is also a chartered economist from New York, USA. He will be in charge of the overall business development and strategy.
Robert Mungai Mburu is an experienced certified Auditor previously with Mungai Mburu & Associates and a successful businessman in the real estate industry. He is currently the chairman of Cretum Properties and the proprietor of Isinya Green City. He offers extensive leadership drawn from his experience in business and audit to the bank.
Board Credit Committee
Simon Kamau Ndungu holds a certificate in banking and Credit skills assessment programme by a London based institute. He is a seasoned banker having started banking in 1992 at Standard charted bank where he rose to the position of Business Relationship Manager at the time he left in year 2005. In the year 2005 he ventured into business where he started Nairobi Fairly Timber & Hardware Ltd, Inter Millenium Business Ventures ltd, These are leading companies in Nairobi dealing in timber, steel and cement supplies and has handled major supplies to Chinese companies like China Wu Yi, China Road and Bridge Corporation, China Fushun and China Zhongxing Construction. He is also the managing Director of Millenium Homes & Properties Ltd, a real estate developer. He has handled sizeable real estate deals.
Catherine Wanjiku Njuguna, was admitted into the Bar in 1984. She holds a Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) from a University Nairobi and a Diploma in Law (Dip. Law) from Kenya School of Law. She is also a Certified Company Secretary. Catherine has over 18 years as a conveyance and litigation lawyer. She also has a wealth of experience in insurance law. She has previously worked as a registrar of titles at the Ministry of Lands and Settlement and at the office of the Attorney General as a senior state counsel.
